Cake, Champagne, Bratwurst, and American Football

Yeah, well the whole daily posting is not working so great at the moment, and I don't think it ever will...hehehe
I discovered yesterday that American brownies are a whole lot sweeter and softer than German brownies. While American brownies might be soft and sweet, German brownies are sturdy and reliable. Yes reliable, because you can dunk them into a nice cold glass of milk and they wont fall apart and they will taste just as good. And although German brownies might be different, I don't think it will be a difficult change to adapt to...
I doubt I am still talking about brownies...

A couple of us got together and had an afternoon coffee and cake session if you may call it. It was sooo good, and of course like previously stated, I baked brownies. After some laughing, two glasses of champagne, and a lot of cake, I found myself talking to two other girls about my future plans and I came to the conclusion that I don't have any true sturdy plans for the future. But its ok.
Franzie, Ping (Alex), her boyfriend, and Karl, her younger brother, were heading to an American football game afterwards and asked Renke and I if we would like to come along. American Football in Germany.....Of course I would LOVE to go and see the whole shee-bang!!! We took the tram on the way to the game. BTW, Germany is really anal about "black riders" meaning people who don't pay for public transportation. Once again I found myself riding Germany's public transportation 'illegally', and yes, there was an officer checking for tickets. I was sweating in my boots. I don't know how or who but something distracted the officer from checking for my ticket. GOTT SEI DANK (Thank God)!!!!!!!!! When we arrived at the stadium I was surprised at the number of people there. It was crazy. There were people fully dressed out like the crazy fans they were. The game was fine. I felt great because I was explaining to Franzie and her brother the workings of American football. Finally, so many Friday night high school football games paid off....hehehehe. Before the game, Franzie and I had some champagne along with Bratwurst. Ha, her and I represented the true epitome of classiness. I must say, American football games should change to selling Bratwurst instead of small measly hotdogs.... And sell some yummy champagne, too.
The home team, the Braunschweig Lions, won 52:7. Yeah, it was quite a kick in the ass. After the game we stood close to the track to congratulate the players. Mostly all came over to say hello. But I have to say the highlight of the game was when I gave a high five to one of the players and then he turned back around and said, "Hey...." (trying to start something), but then the adorable Renke held me and said, "Hey, sie ist mein!" ( I don't think I have to translate that; it's pretty much self-explanatory). *sigh* My tall, bright, and shining prince.....hehehe It's nice to know that you still interest your boyfriend in that way. =)

Yesterday and Saturday's Ball

Men holding babies could possibly be the sexiest thing ever!!!! (Ok, besides The Thinker) Don't get me wrong the only reason I say this is because yesterday we had the closing brunch to the fraternity's anniversary celebrations and there were older frat members with their wives and their young children. I think most of them were around their late 20s early 30s. They all looked adorable holding in their huge manly arms little pieces from heaven. Renke stood up and started holding a carriage, looked at me, raised one eyebrow, and said, "Hmmm?" Let's just say that my eyes just widened as a tried to swallow my piece of steak I was eating at the time. However, the funny thing after that was that all the couples there started talking about marriage and children without any angst or tries into changing the subject matter. It is so ironic that a topic that is mostly seen as a taboo amongst American couples is so welcomed here in Germany even by the young men population. Try to talk about marriage with a guy in the States and they will start running away from you before you even end the sentence. Renke and I proceeded to tell the rest of the group that we wanted four children; the first would be named "Brrrr," and the others after our favorite cartoon show, Transformers.
"Optimus Prime be quiet Daddy is talking to Brrrr."
"No cookies for you, Brrrr!!!"
However, I am thinking it will be quite some time before I have a little Optimus Prime of myself.... hehehehehe

Saturday's Ball was sooo much fun. I like always felt completely uncomfortable wearing a dress, but everyone else said that I looked cute. So, I guess that part wasn't bad. The ball started out with a classic waltz. This type of dancing was possible for me to do because the past two weeks the frat guys, their dates, and myself have been taking ballroom dance lessons. It was great!!! However, I believe Renke didn't have to take nay extra ones because he has had ballroom dance lessons before. (Hahaha, Number 128 of the List: Must be able to dance! I think Ballroom Dancing TOTALLY counts) We were dancing for quite some time and then I told Renke to dip me. He looked at me with confussion and said, "What is to 'dip'?" No, it's not a new word the kids on the street are using instead of sex. I thought that was totally adorable. We were called the King and Queen of the Ball....hehehe. For a while he went to go talk to the boys and I was with the girls, who did not waste any time in saying, "You two belong together and look so cute. Are you engaged?" Ummm, excuse me?!?!?! This completely threw me off again, especially because the night before, in the Festkommers, Renke and I were walking down the stairs, I was wearing a white dress, he was in a suit, and we heard someone in the background sing, "dum dum di rum, dum dum di rum..." (a.k.a. the classic wedding song).
I couldn't stop staring at him the whole night. He looked so handsome and I was telling myself every 10 seconds, "I can't believe that I am here....... with him."
Everyone looked swell, but I have a personal bias and I thought (and still think) we were the cutest, best-dancing, fun, fully-loving couple there. =)

I hope that I can come to next year's Ball.

My Date and me ready to go to the Ball... Don't we look cute?

Dancing at the Ball...I don't have that many pics of it, but I will try to get some more from the brothers.

Just like Derick Zoolander, Renke has his pose, too. Behold, The Thinker. Doesn't he look CALIENTE, here? *1,2,3 sigh*

His modeling career is taking off so quickly that the girls can't keep their hands to themselves. Too bad girls, he is TAKEN. You can stare, but no touching, Franzie!!!

My dress and my akward smile. Why can't I smile correctly? hehehe probably because I was soooo nervous.... and cold. =)

Oh so serious and poetic with the lighting...

Festkommers, May 26, 2006

Enjoy!!!

O jerum, jerum, jerum....

The Festkommers took place on Friday. There, new and old members of the fraternity came together. We drank and we sang old German folk songs again. Renke wrote a speech too in which he spent the entire working on, but I don't think the person who 'read' it, made justice out of it. I had my hat and my smile ready to go. I wonder if the guys would take me as a pledge?!?!?! =) The evening was great and we all had a lot of fun. Once again I was in the company of some great people in which we laughed, talked, and had a wonderful time together. Unfortunately, Voddy, the president, couldn't make it; he is currently hospitalized...poor guy. We sure did miss him.

FaKo: Fuxmajor (i think that's how you spell it), basically teaches the new "Fuexe" (pledges) the ropes to be in die Verbindung.

Arthur and me...bad pic of me...hehehe

Hmmmm, what can we do???
I guess we came up with something to do... Posted by Picasa

Let the Celebrations Commence...

The BIG WEEKEND is finally here...
Die Verbindung (the frat) is celebrating its 128th anniversary...

I dont know how exactly i feel about it. i am still not in the über excited mood, but i think that will happen tomorrow, once the actual celebrating starts. however, today, i am having a full pijama/let's-watch-movies day with the girls while the boys are off doing some boyish drinking stuff at 10am. These Germans are hard core when it comes to their drinking... i feel left behind and that i must increase my tolerance in order to keep with the likes of them. i had to buy a new dress for saturday's ball. it's cute, but i dont know if i would of spend as much money on it if i were back in the States. But to limit my spending i decided not to get a hairstyle done. It's too expensive as well. So, i am just going to straighten my hair and do something cute with it. We'll see what happens... I went to buy my dress with two girlfriends from two of Renke's brothers. Pia and Franzie (hopefully, i am spelling their names right) have been nothing but nice and kind to me. Their boyfriends are soooo lucky to have them. It's a bit weird, though. I have always found it easier to befriend boys as opposed to girls. But it has been the complete oppostie here at the frat. I feel so intimidated by the boys and i feel that i cant relate to them the way i relate to my guy friends back at home. i literally cannot speak to them. my whole system shuts down. and i dont want them to think that i am a bitch or a snobby American because i won't talk to them. For example, I went downstairs yesterday to ask one of the guys if he needed help. He said, "Nein," but i asked once more and he said no again and then went on a rant about saying how the furniture they were moving was heavy and how i would only hurt myself. First of all, I move furniture around all the time in my room, so that's no problem. Second, i was offerring my help, a 'thank you' would have been nice. But instead of saying anything, i choked and crawled back to my cave also known as Renke's room. it's so baaaaaaadddd. i cant joke around with them because i feel that the German humor might be a little bit different from mine and so i dont want to be seen as a weird-o or a freak. *sigh* i miss my boyz ( and Sprite, too)...
But as soon as I can I will try to post up pics of the events going on (and of my dresses...hehehehe). I think I like the process of dressing up more than the actual event itself...no, I am kidding, but it is fun to get all spiffed up for one's man....

Deciding, Something I am Always Doing

Today, on my way back from the supermarket I was asked,

"What's going to happen when you return to the States?"

To be honest, i have not thought about it at all. The pure thought of it scares me. I will be away from the life i have grown to love and separated once again from the only person that I have truly deeply cared about (sidenote: this is totally different from family and friends...i think you all know what i mean). i don't want to go through with this again, but if i want to keep him in my life we are going to have survive the next five years like this. FIVE YEARS!!! It's a long time, but at the pace time goes by, it will hopefully pass us by quickly. I have always thought about doing grad-school in Europe (Renke could be seen as another reason why i should.) There is the UN University in Geneeva, but there are also some other closer options like in Berlin and in Bremen. Who knows? But then I face myself with another obstacle...and that's choosing. I have always wanted to go to Columbia University, and it would be great for grad-school, but with my life circumstances, i don't know what will happen. Who knows if i will even get into Columbia?!?!?!
Ay, yay, yay, yay
What is a girl to do? I like to plan what i will be doing with my life in the next year or two. But at times i think that planning for the tomorrow is wasteful because all that time that you spend planning, you could have been spending time with the ones you love. It's just a big paradox. You have to plan for tomorrow, but who knows if you will still be alive next week or so. In the words of one my dearest friends in Rochester, "I should just tell the rest of the world to go fuck itself," and do what i want with my life. However, the little voice inside my head, which by the way sounds very close to my mom's, is telling me to reconsider and to be responsible. Ooooh, mothers!!! They tend to squeeze themselves into every aspect of one's life.

A BitterSweet End...

I have to admit that one of my best memories here in Freiburg was created yesterday evening...

My suite mate Basti (short for Sebastian) asked me if i wanted to go on a walk with him and have a beer. I hadn't seen much of Basti, because he was in India doing an internship with his professor (awesome, right? yeah, i know) However, even though he wasn't here for most of my stay we have grown to be very good and close friends. So we walked for a while and then sat down on the blue bridge him and i cross every day to go to schoo. As we climbed up the steel arches of the bridge, people passed below us and kept on going with their lives. it was so interesting being up there without being noticed... well, for a while at least. the view was beautiful. in front of us we could see the Black Forrest and the sun was starting to set. It was one of the most gorgeous things that i have seen. As the sun went down, Basti pulls out two beers from his jacket and we start to drink and talk. we talked for about two hours about future plans, "humanity", marriage (not with him...hehehe), having a family, our favorite memories, and so on and so forth. He told me he was sad to see me go and that he will miss me. "I will miss you, too," i said. during our talk Basti pulls out 2 Bidis. these are Hindi cigarrettes literally rolled up in a leaf and tied up with a string... no filter whatsoever!!! They were the epitome of Third World 'souvenirs'. We smoked the Hindi cigarrettes along with our beer. OMG, that was the first time that i had been completely relaxed and 'loose' in weeks. it was amazing. The sun set, our talk came to a finish, and without words we said goodbye, it was understood. it's funny how life puts you in these situations and you meet people that touch your life in significant ways and that you know you will see once again during your lifetime. I guess i just wasn't expected for someone like him to be the person in Freiburg to leave me such a permanent impression...

Unbelievable....

I just felt that I needed to add this to my blog...

So my friend Claudia and I have been studying for our Migration class final which will be next week. We were reading an article today about immigration in Germany from the 1980s to the present day. It actually stated:

"Most German citizens and historians have perceived the immigrant community as a BIOLOGICAL THREAT..."

What the hell is that about?!?!?! I hope this is not the true sentiment that the whole German nation feels... that would be horrible.

I have been called many bad names in my life, but never have I been referred to as a 'Biological Threat'.

Wow, just wow

Mexico, The New Amsterdam???

With the growing turmoil and the ongoing drug-war on the Mexican-Texan border, Mexico has decided to pass on a law that is both controversial and abnormal for the Mexican society. Click the on the link and read on...

Another Chapter...

I started crying today after I read your message…..

So I respond to you, My Dearest Friend....

It’s finally happening. We are growing up. I know we have had our share of crossroads in the past, but this time it feels as if we are crossing a state line. We find ourselves with one foot in our future, but the other is still holding on to dear life on the other side. Unfortunately, at this juncture we are alone, but I guess we both knew this would come sooner or later. I thought it would be later….so much later. Where did the time go? I swear, we were just kids riding on the bus back home from school just two seconds ago. And now, we are practically young women of twenty-something years of age and making life changing decisions. If only I could pause time for five more minutes to taste the sweetness of our shared childhood once again. If only I could record those moments when we were driving and singing out loud. If only I could relive these moments with you once again….

Sometimes we are by the ones we love, but eventually we must decide by ourselves the next step to take in this journey called Life. We will be tested; we will have heartbreaks; there will be times where we will cry or laugh; we will become women….

My Dearest Friend, it is time for the world to enjoy you charisma, your beauty, your intelligence, your humor, your friendship, your care, your love, your soul. You are about to begin a new part of your life in San Antonio. Make sure to enjoy it, to savor it. Do not be afraid to Live! And if you ever need anything, you know that you can always count on me no matter what opposing corners of the world we are on.

I wish I could be by your side during this time of emotional turmoil. Even though at the moment I am an ocean away, I am holding your hand…. I know you will make it through, not only that, I know you will be successful at whatever you do. Don’t let the stress get to you and remember that sometimes a good cry will do a lot more than holding those tears back.

I thank you for all the special ways you have touched my life. I couldn’t have asked God for a better friend. You have become my Sister. And like just like sisters, we share a special bond that we know will bring us back together. My dearest sister, I wish you good luck and Godspeed. I love you and I always will….

I Had A BABY!!!!

Hahahaha....
Ok, well i wasn't pregnant nor anything of that sort. But i did have a baby today. My Suitemate's girlfriend was taking care of her friend's baby. She got here and decided to have breakfast so i volunteered to take care of the baby, Elias. As soon as i grabbed him he started laughing and smiling. Everyone around the table said, "Oh, look how cute Mommy Gaby is!!!" Yikes.... But he was adorable. He seemed to be a big fan of my Handy as well. He baptized it with his slobber all over it. lol It was weird, for a second i saw myself having one of those (a baby). But i think i scared myself. And although i wish to have one (or mayber more than one), i dont think it will be tomorrow, nor next week, nor anywhere in the next few years. We'll see what time brings me. hahaha Can you imagine me, a mom??? Oh wow!!! Don't worry i am not trying to scare any of the following peoples: parents, siblings, BOYFRIEND, friends, etc. Let's just call the events of today as a glimpse into the future....far future.

Check out this new song from Snow Patrol titled "You Are All I Have"
its pretty cool...

Strain this chaos turn it into light
I've got to see you one last night
Before the lions take their share
Leave us in pieces, scattered everywhere

Just give me a chance to hold on
Give me a chance to hold on
Give me a chance to hold on
Just give me something to hold onto

It's so clear now that you are all that I have
I have no fear cos you are all that I have
It's so clear now that you are all that I have
I have no fear cos you are all that I have

Elias and Mommy. Ha!!! Yeah right. I think babysitting is just fine for right now. =)

Yum,yum...Elias seems to have a taste for cell phones

Elias and me....hmmm, even though he is so cute i think i will hold back for a few years before i have my own (German?) baby/babies

Es tut mir leid.....

Oh me....

When someone tells you that they can't call you for a while, one would think there would a legitimate reason behind it? One would like to give the other person the benefit of the doubt. One would think that the reasoning behind the lack of communication would be that they have to study for an exam, they have meetings, they have to do a group project, and so on and so forth. But when the person who you haven't had any contact with the last few days calls you from a party and then states that all they did was watch a soccer game and go to a party, of course one will get a bit annoyed. *sigh*

I should not be pissed off nor mad. It was only about two days, but they seemed like forever. Ugh, I hate being here in Freiburg with nothing to do other than school. If i were in New York or Texas i would care less because i would be busy, too. I have my University, my job, the theater, all my friends, my dance team, my coffee shops, my whole life. (Unfortunately, the only part of my life missing when I am in New York or Texas is YOU.) But being here with nothing to do gives me way tooo much time on my hands to think and to over think things. i miss having a complete life. i miss the hustle and bustle. Yes, i complain about it, but it is my life, and it is the thing that keeps me going. I hate scaring myself when I think too much. I think and I analyze my future, my past, my present, and the present from others.

I hate not being there….
I hate not being here….

Jean Grey Got a Package!!!

OMG, i got the best friends a gal could ever ask for. This has already been a good day, but this, this just puts it over the top.
i was happily walking back to the EU center after i got out of German class. i was über happy. yesterday i took a test which i thought i failed completely, but today i got it back and there was a nice big red "A" on it with a nice smiley face!!!! "Oh damn!!!," i thought, "i rocked Passive's ass!!!" (sidenote** i believe the Passive form in the German language to be my arch enemy...hehehe). So i am walking into the EU center and i notice these two bigs packages that arrived, but i didnt dare look at them because in the past four months that i have been here i havent received a package from the States. But on the contraire, today, i did get one. and it was huge!!!
it was from my friends Sean, Ryn, Kristin, and Mitch. Oh God, i love these kids!!! They sent me:

Lady Ms. Puke-It-All

So what can I say…. The following pictures are from Saturday night's AnKneipe to celebrate the beginning of the Summer Semester. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, I am seeing a frat boy….hehehehe. However, the frats in Germany are waaaaay different than the ones we are accustomed to in the States. So, Saturday April 22, 2006, Renke and I celebrated with all his other brothers and guests the beginning of a new semester. Well, technically, he is in the current process of pledging. I couldn’t be happier for him. He is getting into a really awesome group of guys that deserve nothing more than songs and praises. He got baptized and was given the lovey-name of “Kalle”. I still can’t call him that, yet….maybe because I am not used to it… but I have a feeling I will always call him Renke.

So, why the title to this blog??? Well, I was feeling Ms. HotStuff strutting with my dress and feeling pretty, however, this AnKneipe (Kneipe means Bar in German) tricks you (or at least it tricked me) into drinking as much beer as possible. I would have been alright but that combined with Vodka shots and White Wine, one is bound to get into a mess. There are certain sides of girl that no one should see, especially the boy she likes. Well, to sum it all up (and literally UP), I had wonderful upchuck reflexes which poured themselves unto the bed, floor, carpet, bathroom, etc. I was like a male cat, proclaiming my territory and leaving my trace behind wherever I went. But I am lucky enough that I had a gentleman by my side that helped me through the night and was there to offer me aspirin and cola. I awoke next to the most caring creature on the face of this planet and to two red roses. *sigh*

The funny thing is that this brought us closer together and made us feel more comfortable together. However, I will never hear the end of this because I earned myself a lifetime of ridicule and laughter by him…well, at least it’s from him and not somebody else.

Owww, look at those two hotties!!! AnKneipe Saturday, April 22, 2006

Ohhhh, what's that???? Too close, but too cute to pass up.

Me with the boys....awwww, isn't that lovely???

The fraternity's officers....oh soo cute. I love the real tradition they portray (unlike other frats....)

So part of the "hazing" process is that the pledge has to figure out which is the real Coca Cola from the rest, however, all have some type of liquour in them....oh,oooh!!!!

Which cola is it????

Renke getting "baptized" .... his new name is Kalle

lately...

It seems like i do things better when i am on my own...or maybe i am not so judgmental when i am by myself, but lately (being here in Braunschweig), i feel like a dimwit. i cant do anything right. the cooking that i once took so much pride in is gone down the drain. i dont know what i am doing wrong, nothing i prepare tastes good (and poor Renke, i can see him trying to swallow whatever mess i made). =( i was trying to do some laundry....i couldnt even separate it correctly. *sigh* i just get the feeling that this whole "let's play house" is not the right game for me. dont get me wrong, i love tending to him...its like showing him how much i care, but if i am sucking at it, wont that mean that i dont care that much???? *double sigh* God, knows that i am trying and i am trying to calm myself down, but everytime i try to do something it just ends up blowing up in my face.
I love being here, i just wish that i wouldnt feel so out-of-place. only time will tell, but sadly, my time with him is almost over and i will be back to hectic life in Freiburg. btw, i have been sleeping here so much that i think that Renke might feel as if i am a lazy bum....hehehe. but thats how a girl gets when she hasnt had that much sleep the last three weeks or try more like, the last three years.....
Well, until then, i feel like i should go read 'Home and Garden' or some stuff like that so i can feel at least competent in READING delicious gourmet recipies and keeping your whites apart from your colored.

Is there anyone out there
cuz it's getting harder and harder

Ein kleines Update...

So I know it has been forever since i last blogged or posted up any pics. i would put up some pics but i am currently not using my computer.
Since last Friday i have been out for Spring Break (yeah i know it is really late). I took the train to Apen (North Germany) and stayed the Easter Weekend with Renke.
It was wonderful, however, I have never felt so nervous, confused, and scared in my life. I don't know what happened to me. The little self-confidence in me drifted away from me and left me alone. All i wanted to do was to curl up in a ball and stay quiet. Dont get me wrong I wasn't feelingl like this with him, it was mostly with the parental unit (dear good'ol mom). She has quite a presence. Everytime i was left alone i could feel her eyes looking at me and judging me....thinking what are you doing here? i might be wrong in my judgment, but i didn't feel like this at all with the other family i met of his. We went to Holland for the day and visited the family where he stayed during his internship. OMG, they were amazing....probably some of the nicest and friendliest people i have ever met. It's amazing what a difference 80 kilometers and a country border makes. The entire family was so warm and even said hello with the customary kiss on the cheek (however, they kiss 3 times!!!). Their oldest son even taught me how to drive manual.... Can you believe it??? One of my all time dreams finally came true, now i can become a race car driver like i have always wanted....hehehehe
The region of Germany where i spent my Easter weekend has the tradition of the Easter fire. Saturday night when Renke and I were driving back from Holland (which were running late), i gazed out the car's window and saw the beauty and wonderment of Easter in Germany. The sun had set and there were fires in the horizon. It was beautiful how everything was lit up. The power of fire never ceases to amaze me. Saturday was one of the most perfect days i have ever had in my life......

more to come, be patient and i will be kind to you, my readers

Did I disappoint you or let you down?
Should I be feeling guilty or let the judges frown?
'Cause I saw the end before we'd begun,
Yes I saw you were blinded and I knew I had won.
So I took what's mine by eternal right.
Took your soul out into the night.
It may be over but it won't stop there,
I am here for you if you'd only care.
You touched my heart you touched my soul.
You changed my life and all my goals.
And love is blind and that I knew when,
My heart was blinded by you.
I've kissed your lips and held your head.
Shared your dreams and shared your bed.
I know you well, I know your smell.
I've been addicted to you.

Goodbye my lover.
Goodbye my friend.
You have been the one.
You have been the one for me.

I am a dreamer but when I wake,
You can't break my spirit - it's my dreams you take.
And as you move on, remember me,
Remember us and all we used to be
I've seen you cry, I've seen you smile.
I've watched you sleeping for a while.
I'd be the father of your child.
I'd spend a lifetime with you.
I know your fears and you know mine.
We've had our doubts but now we're fine,
And I love you, I swear that's true.
I cannot live without you.

Goodbye my lover.
Goodbye my friend.
You have been the one.
You have been the one for me.

And I still hold your hand in mine.
In mine when I'm asleep.
And I will bear my soul in time,
When I'm kneeling at your feet.
Goodbye my lover.
Goodbye my friend.
You have been the one.
You have been the one for me.
I'm so hollow, baby, I'm so hollow.
I'm so, I'm so, I'm so hollow.

Part I

Budapest, Hungary
February 23-25, 2006

Driving from the airport towards the city one can really tell that there is a huge discrepancy between classes. The outside of the city is rundown. There are houses made out of cardboard and the streets are covered with sleeping people. All I could say to myself was, “I believe we have arrived in Europe’s Third World.” As we approached the inner city, the grand buildings sneaked out from the fog and showed us the city’s ‘true’ beauty. It seems that the inner city suffers from short term memory loss. It swims in the ocean of its riches and beauty while the other half stands by and watches in jealousy.

After climbing the Statues of Liberty in Budapest...oh so tired!!!One of the nine connecting Buda and Pest

Budapest getting close to sunset

Budapest's Statue of Liberty. It's pretty alright, but damn, I had to hike to the freaking mountain in heels to see it just because we didn't have enough time to go to the hotel and change. It hurt like a MoFo, but now I have some killer calves. =)

Hot Drummer who all girls were drooling about when we are the Jazz Club.

Part II

Krakow, Poland

February 25-28, 2006

I was very much surprised by Krakow. When I heard Poland, my very first thoughts were of a city with Soviet remains, underdeveloped, and very cold. Even though it was cold in Krakow, I was proven wrong. Yes, there are still remaining issues within Krakow/Poland to resolve, however, this country is well on its way to obtaining its goals.

Krakow, Poland

Krakow's Town Square in the Old Town part of the city.

More Town Square...

The Dragon! Legend has it that Sir Krak ( I am not kidding!), slayed the dragon that threatened the small village. However, he did this by killing a couple of cows and opening their stomachs and placed sulfur in them. He put the cows in front of the dragon's cave. When the dragon awoke from his slumber, he saw the cows in front of its cave and ate them. Afterwards, it drank from the lake. The water's reaction to the sulfur caused the dragon to blow up like a balloon and, thus, it exploded. Krak became the king, hence, Krakow.
